NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware junior Mina Feyrer swept the 100 and 200 fly in Saturday afternoon’s 161-119 loss to Drexel at Rawstrom Natatorium.

Feyrer won the 100 fly in 58.22  and the 200 fly in 2:07.11, while freshman Diver Holly Smith finished first and set career-best marks on the 1M (190.35) and 3M (193.42) boards. Other highlights included the Blue Hens (3-6, 0-4 CAA) 400 yard freestyle relay team (Amy Nemeth, Sarah Braatz, Melissa Manuelli and Athena Cimino) finishing first (3:35.90) and junior Gabby Acker setting a season-best mark in the 1000 freestyle (10:37.64) finishing second.

The Blue Hens return to action next Sunday, January 15 against Iona College and Saint Francis (Pa) for a 1 p.m. meet.

Head coach John Hayman:

“The women today were just a fraction behind Drexel in almost all of the races. I think we competed well and we had a lot of two, three, four finishes but we need to win races. Heading into next week that needs to be a focus for us. I think our holiday break training was great but we need to get back into form following the break. This week we need to continue to be consistent with our training. With winter session underway and our athletes back on campus, we look forward to another big week of training. After the meet next weekend we’re going to have our preliminary roster set for next month’s CAA Championships (Feb. 14-17) so that will put some pressure on some kids to perform well next weekend against Iona and St. Francis.”
