HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Hofstra shot a blistering 61 percent from the field in the second half as the Pride pulled away for a 90-63 Colonial Athletic Association victory over Delaware Thursday night at the Mack Sports Complex.

Desure Buie posted career-highs of 20 points and eight assists for the Pride (12-7, 5-2 CAA), which shot 55.4 percent for the game while winning its third straight contest. The Blue Hens (11-9, 4-3 CAA) saw their three-game winning streak snapped.

UD freshman guard Ryan Allen paced Delaware with 16 points, while Anthony Mosley contributed 15 on the night. Ryan Daly chipped in 13 points and a team-best eight rebounds for the Blue Hens, reaching double figures for the 18th game in a row. Delaware shot 44.8 percent but was just 2 of 13 from three-point range.

Eli Pemberton contributed a game-best 21 points for Hofstra, while Justin Wright-Foreman added 15 but had his 13-game streak of scoring at least 20 points snapped.

Hofstra hit 9 of its first 13 shots from the field while jumping out to a 22-13 lead seven and a half minutes into the game, and led the rest of the way. The Blue Hens closed within a pair three times during the period, before the Pride ended the half on a 9-3 run to take a 39-31 advantage into the break.

A Daly jumper cut the lead to eight early in the second half, but Wright-Foreman answered with a three-pointer and a jumper to extend the margin to 50-37 and force a UD timeout with 15:45 to play. Midway through the half Hofstra scored eight points in a row to extend the margin to 68-47, and led comfortably from there.

“Hofstra is a talented offensive team, and although I thought we did a good job on Wright-Foreman, they had other guys step up. We let them get confident, and at that point they’re hard to defend. We got off to a good start offensively, but missed some free throws and got careless with the ball to let them get out in transition late in the half. We didn’t have any answers for them in the second half. We let our offense affect our defense, and didn’t dig or communicate the way we needed to.”

• Mosley and Daly each surpassed the 850-point mark for their careers
• Allen reached double figures for the fourth straight game
