CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's and women's swimming and diving program kicked off the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Championships from Christiansburg Aquatic Center Wednesday afternoon.

Day one highlights included freshman diver Jacob Lukens (at right) finishing third in the 1-meter event, producing a season-best score of 260.95, and the women’s 800 freestyle relay team setting a season-best mark with a time of 7:26.71, a nearly nine-second reduction off its seed time.

Delaware began the afternoon by setting a season-best time (1:43.60) in the women’s 200 medley relay and the men’s 200 medley relay (1:31.31).

The competition continued with the men’s 1-meter where Delaware received a third place finish from Lukens (16 points), a ninth place finish from freshman Brendan Newberry (nine points), and a 10th place finish from Arnav Johri (seven points).

Day one concluded with the 800 freestyle relays, where both the Delaware men (6:41.44) and the Blue Hen women (7:26.71) set season-best performances.

Day two action begins tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with the 500 free preliminaries. Night two finals begin at 6 p.m. and can be live streamed on CAA.TV.
