PEORIA, Ariz. – The University of Delaware women’s golf team opened its 2018 spring season in impressive fashion on Sunday and Monday at the Westbrook Invitational by setting the program record for a 54-hole tournament.

The Blue Hens, who carded a 293 score during Monday’s final round, finished in 13th place out of 15 squads with a three-round total of 292-291-293-876. Delaware broke the previous three-round record of 882 set at the PSU Nittany Lion Invitational on Sept. 23-24, 2017.

Oklahoma claimed the team title with an 839 score, followed by Ohio State at 840, Nebraska at 843 and tournament host Wisconsin at 844.

UD freshman Thitaree Sakulbunpanich fired an even par 72 during her final round on the par 72, 6,252-yard Vistas Course at Westbrook Village Golf Club, tying for 38th place with a one over par score of 74-71-72-217.

Ashley Dingman carded the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen with a one under par 71, as she tied for 42nd place at 73-74-71-218, two over par. Ariane Klotz tied for 48th place with a three over par score of 72-70-77-219.

Valentina Mueller recorded a six over par 73-76-73-222 to tie for 58th place at the invitational, while Josefina Fernandez-Davila finished 86th with a 33 over par 81-86-82-249.

Jaclyn Lee of Ohio State captured medalist honors with a 19 under par 64-69-64-197, while Kaitlin Milligan of Oklahoma finished two shots back.

Delaware returns to action on Mar. 5-6 when the Blue Hens compete in the UNF Collegiate at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.
