PHILADELPHIA – The University of Delaware women’s tennis team won four of six singles matches as the Blue Hens pulled out a 4-3 victory over Temple Friday afternoon at the Penn Tennis Center.

Delaware (5-4) dropped the doubles point to the Owls (5-5), but Brooke Pilkington picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Alina Abdurakhimova at No. 1 singles while Sara Komer defeated Monet Stuckey-Willis 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2.

Sarah Whited earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Alice Patch at No. 4 singles for the Blue Hens, while Sarah Hall edged Oyku Boz 6-7, 7-6, 6-2 at No. 5 as Delaware posted its fifth win in six matches.

Temple, which had a four-match winning streak snapped, earned singles wins at No. 3 as Kristina Titova defeated Amanda Studnicki 6-0, 6-0 and at No. 6 as Cecilia Castelli topped Draga Sabotic 6-3, 6-3.

The Blue Hens play their first Colonial Athletic Association match of the year on Sunday when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. for a 10 a.m. contest with the Dukes.
