WESTFIELD, N.J. – Halfway through the 2018 season, the University of Delaware men’s tennis team has already reached milestones that haven’t been hit in nearly a decade.

With a 6-1 defeat of Saint Peter’s on Saturday, the Blue Hens reached their 10th win of the season, which is the most wins in a season since the 2010 campaign. No Delaware men’s tennis team has won more than 10 games since 2005.

“Today wasn’t our best match, but I thought we competed well and were able to pull out the big points when we needed to,” Head Coach Pablo Montana said. “We just have to keep working on getting better every time we step on the courts.”

For the sixth straight match, Delaware took momentum early by winning the doubles point. Freshman Justice Jones and sophomore Curran Verma secured the point with a 6-4 win at the second doubles position.

Verma kept things rolling with a straight set 6-4, 6-2 win at the top spot in the lineup. Dustin Britton gave Delaware a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #2.

Junior Blaise Casselbury secured the match victory for the Blue Hens with a 6-4, 6-4 win at #4.

Senior Colin Wong and sophomore Laurenz Lankes also posted straight set victories of their own to secure the 6-1 win.

Delaware is back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Baltimore for a 3:30 p.m. showdown with Loyola University.
