NEWARK, Del. --The University of Delaware baseball program dropped a 6-5 see-saw affair Sunday afternoon to Bryant University at Bob Hannah Stadium.

After allowing an early first inning run, Delaware struck for three runs in the first inning. Mohollen, who doubled to lead-off the frame, scored the first run of the inning on a Diaz Nardo infield single with one out. UD scored the second and third runs of the inning on a Scott double and Miller single.

Delaware enjoyed the 3-1 lead into the third inning, but a run in the third and two in the fourth inning gave Bryant (6-10) a 4-3 lead heading to the bottom of the fourth. In the home half, Delaware re-took the lead (5-4) on Tyler Callender’s second home run of the season.

After the bulldogs tied the game in the top of the fifth, neither team as able to scratch across a run until the top of the ninth, when Bryant took the lead for good on a wild pitch from Cole Benjamin (0-2). In the bottom of the ninth, Mohollen singled with one out, but was later erased on a double play that ended the game.

Delaware will return to action this Friday afternoon, opening Colonial Athletic Association play at longtime rival Towson. First pitch from Towson is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Head coach Jim Sherman:

"Today was another great ball game. The whole series was fantastic. I thought today both clubs played well, we just couldn't put together the finish we would have liked to see in a tight game. Like we've talked about this gang can battle. We've done it all year long. Now we will take this week to get ready for our CAA opener next Friday at Towson."
