RADFORD, Va. – The University of Delaware men’s tennis team fell to Radford, 5-2, on Friday afternoon.

The Highlanders (8-4) opened the match by winning all three doubles matches to take the doubles point. Alexandros Caldwell and Rodrigo Magalhaes defeated UD’s duo of Blaise Casselbury and Colin Wong, 6-3, at No. 1, while Michiel Meekers and Robin Calais edged Justice Jones and Curran Verma, 7-5, at No. 2. The Highlanders’ Carlos Sala and Matko Varga posted a 6-1 decision over Nathan Benyowitz and Laurenz Lankes at No. 3.

Dustin Britton earned a victory at No. 2 singles for Delaware (10-4) by notching a 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 1-0 (13-11) win over Magalhaes. Jones picked up the Blue Hens’ other point with a 6-3, 6-3 verdict over Sala at No. 5 singles.

Caldwell topped Verma, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for Radford, while Varga defeated Wong, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3. Meekers came away with a 6-3, 7-5 triumph over Casselbury at No. 4 for the Highlanders, while Calais bested Lankes, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.

The Blue Hens continue their southern trip on Monday with a 2 p.m. match at UNC Asheville.
