WILLIAMSBURG Va. – The University of Delaware men’s golf team fired a 304 score during Sunday’s first round at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate to end the day in a tie for 14th place out of 24 squads.

Utah Valley leads the team standings with a 287 score, while Eastern Michigan sits in second place with a 292 total.

Blue Hen sophomore Jack Melville carded a four over par 74 on the par 70, 6,794-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort to end the round in a tie for 21st place. Blaine Lafferty is tied for 35th place with a five over par 75, while Kieran Purcell is tied for 66th place with a seven over par 77.

Jack Gianniny and Christian Chapman each shot an eight over par 78 to finish the day tied for 77th place.

Reed Winkler of Saint Joseph’s, Ariel Elftman-Hanson of Utah Valley, and Chad Hess of Old Dominion are tied for the individual lead as all three players carded a two under par 68. The second round of the three-day tournament will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
