FARMVILLE, Va. – Blue Hen senior Jack Gianniny tied for fourth place while the University of Delaware men’s golf team placed second as the University of Delaware men’s golf team posted an impressive performance Friday and Saturday at the Manor Intercollegiate.

After carding rounds of 293 and 302 on Friday, the Blue Hens fired a 301 on Saturday to finish in second place out of 13 squads with an 896 total. Tournament host Longwood captured the team title with an 891 score, followed by Delaware in second place and Western Carolina in third at 900. UD recorded its second runner-up finish of the year, along with the Patriot Invitational on Sept. 25-26.

Gianniny shot a two over par 74 during his final round on the par 72, 7,246-yard Manor Golf Club course, tying for fourth place with a four over par 74-72-74-220. Kieran Purcell tied for 10th place at the invitational with a 10 over par 75-73-78-226.

Blaine Lafferty tied for 17th place with a 13 over par 73-80-76-229, while Christian Chapman also tied for 17th place with his 13 over par score of 76-77-76-229.

Jack Melville finished in 22nd place with a 14 over par 71-84-75-230 while Nick Vecellio, playing as an individual, carded a 26 over par 79-82-81-242 to tie for 47th place.

Three players tied for first place at two over par, with Longwood’s Brandon Weaver earning medalist honors by winning on the second playoff hole.

Delaware returns to action on Apr. 9-10 when the Blue Hens compete in the Villanova Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa.
