HARRISONBURG, Va. – The University of Delaware softball team dropped a Colonial Athletic Association doubleheader to James Madison, 11-4 and 15-0, Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.

In the first game of the day, Morgan Tolle gave JMU (26-8, 7-1 CAA) the early lead by hitting a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first inning, before the Dukes added three runs in the third and one in the fourth.

Delaware (8-24, 2-6 CAA) loaded the bases in the top of the fifth when Alyshia Dellatore doubled, Leanna Gearhart walked and Giovanna Kolofer singled. Two runs then scored when Reyna de Jesus reached on an error, and after Anna Steinmetz hit a sacrifice fly, Mariah Kondravy ripped an RBI single to make it a 5-4 game.

However JMU quickly got a run back in the bottom of the frame, before Ashley Samuels belted a grand slam in the sixth as the Dukes pulled away.

Kate Gordon drilled a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning during the nightcap for JMU, while Tolle and Odicci Alexander added solo shots in the second as the Dukes extended the margin to eight. Tolle, Alexander and Natalie Cutright delivered RBI singles in a four-run third inning, before the Dukes added three more in the fourth.

• Gearhart rcorded two hits on the day for Delaware, while seven players added one apiece
• Steinmetz increased her team-leading RBI total to 27
• JMU extended its winning streak over Delaware to 20 games
