PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Delaware women’s rowing team continued its strong spring Saturday afternoon, as the team competed against West Virginia University and The United States Naval Academy.

In the morning, the Blue Hens four boats (First Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Third Varsity Eight and Varsity Four) competed against Navy. In the afternoon, Delaware competed against the Mountaineers.

Delaware’s Varsity Eights and the Varsity Four fell to the Naval Academy in the morning session but rebounded nicely in the afternoon sweeping the Big 12 members across the board.

The Hens Varsity Eight turned in a time of 6:54.40 in the morning, before turning in a time of 7:04.10 in the afternoon. Delaware’s Second Varsity Eight turned in an afternoon time of 7:16.80 after finishing in 7:12.60 in the morning.

The Delaware Third Varsity Eight turned in a time of 7:13.80 in the morning before finishing in 7:24.30. The last Blue Hens boat, the Varsity Four finished 10 seconds ahead of West Virginia in the afternoon (7:54.30) and turned in a morning time of 7:47.70.

Delaware will take next weekend off to prepare for the annual Dad Vail Regatta (May 11-12) held on Schuylkill River, and the 2018 CAA Championships on May 13 held on the Cooper River (Cherry Hill, N.J.)
