CHANDLER, Ariz. – A leader on and off of the field, University of Delaware field hockey senior Heather Hartman was chosen participate in the Front Rush/NFHCA Division I Senior Game, as announced by the organization today.

A defender and team captain from Fredericksburg, Va., Hartman has started all 16 games for the Hens (12-4; 5-0 CAA) this season.  She has collected five points on three assists and one goal.  During her four-year career at UD, Hartman has played in all 70 of Delaware’s games.

Hartman currently leads the Blue Hens with 14 career assists, a mark that ties for 18th all-time in Delaware history with Missy Meharg (1981-84).

“I am very excited for Heather, the Hartman family and, of course, our Delaware field hockey program,” remarked UD head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof.  “Heather has been enjoying a great career as a Blue Hen and has improved immensely as a student, player and especially as a young woman over her four years in Newark.  Her selection to this game is a tribute for all that she has done, committed to and believed in as a Blue Hen.  I have no doubt in my mind that Heather will continue to inspire people around her to grow and become better.  She will share her passion and desire to make others around her better upon graduating from the University of Delaware.  Our program is very proud to have Heather Hartman amongst us and we wish her a great experience at the NFHCA Senior game.”

Hartman is one of 38 Division I field hockey student-athletes chosen for the contest.  Additionally, she is joined by two other Colonial Athletic Association foes in Lindsay Bennett (Northeastern) and Lindsay McArdle (Drexel).

The game will be held at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex in Virginia Beach, Va.  Any individual whose team makes the NCAA Final Four will not participate in the contest, as it is slated for the weekend.

Hartman and her Delaware teammates look to outright claim the CAA regular season championship this Friday as the Blue Hens travel to Philadelphia to take on Drexel (12-5; 3-1 CAA) at 7 p.m.
