University of Delaware field hockey head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof announced the addition of former team captain and four-year letter winner Jacki Coveleski to the squad's coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in August 2016.

In her lone season as a volunteer assistant, Coveleski helped guide the Blue Hens to the program's first-ever NCAA Division I Championship title as the squad also posted a team-record and nation-best 23 victories and 90.2 winning percentage.  Coveleski joined head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof and assistant coaches Missy Arenz and Jordan McKee in bringing home all of the 2016 coaching honors as the staff earned NFHCA Division I Coach of the Year, CAA Coach of the Year, ECAC Eastern Coach of the Year and NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year accolades.

“We are so excited to have Jacki provide her drive and energy for another season with the Blue Hens,” remarked Van de Kerkhof upon her arrival as a volunteer assistant.  “I believe it is a great compliment for a program to welcome back the commitment of an alumna who wants to continue to contribute to her team.  Thanks to Jacki's experiences and life lessons learned during her four seasons as a student-athlete, she is a great resource and inspirational person for all of our new and returning players.”

Coveleski, who graduated in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, appeared in 80 games in a Delaware uniform and led the Hens to three straight CAA titles from 2012-15.

“When Jacki committed to the University of Delaware, her commitment was based on a vision and plan,” Van de Kerkhof commented.  “During her four seasons as a student-athlete, she directly contributed to the growth of our program and the Delaware Field Hockey brand.  She has been a key component in transitioning the vision and plan into a reality by raising the team's academic, athletic and community performances and accomplishments.”

A skilled forward, she finished her career tied for 18th in program history with 16 career assists and added 18 goals for 52 points.  Off of the field, the Lewes, Del. native was one of the team's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representatives and also held a position on the SAAC Executive Board.

“Joining the Delaware Field Hockey coaching staff provides me with the opportunity to give back to a program that I hold close to my heart,” exclaimed Coveleski.  “UDFH contributed greatly to helping me become the person I am today. As such, I find it a great privilege to help my former teammates and newcomers have an even better experience than I had.  Since my first year, this program has come a long way and it is exciting to be a part of the process as we continually improve.”
