Defensive specialist Kim Kinsella joined the University of Delaware field hockey staff in August 2013 and works with the team's goalkeepers.

Kinsella brings over six years of coaching experience to the Blue Hens and will work closely with head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof, who enters third season at the helm of the Blue Hens, and first year assistant coach Lynn Farquhar.

“I am excited to welcome Kim to our staff here at Delaware,” commented Van de Kerkhof. “It’s great to have a goalkeeping coach join us and really focus on our fifth-year senior Sarah Scher and freshman Fran Orella. Kim has an extensive background in goalkeeping coaching and was a fantastic goalkeeper in her collegiate days. She is eager to learn more about Division I coaching and I’m happy to be a part of that process as a mentor.”

Kinsella joins the Blue Hens following three seasons as an assistant coach at Central Michigan University. While there, she worked with the team’s goalkeepers and mentored Anatasia Netto to two all-conference honors.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Delaware field hockey family,” remarked Kinsella. “I’m looking forward to helping Rolf achieve his goals for this program in addition to helping the girls reach their full potential on and off the field.”

Prior to her time at CMU, Kinsella spent three seasons at Virginia Wesleyan College where she was instrumental in mentoring another all-conference goalie selection.

Kinsella competed collegiately at Missouri State as one of the top goalkeepers in the country from 2004-07. She led the nation in saves per game and save percentage three times. Kinsella earned second team All-MAC and All-MAC academic honors from 2005-07. She was also a three-time NFHCA All-Academic honoree while with the Bears.

The St. Louis, Mo. native has been heavily involved in coaching numerous camps at both the high school and collegiate levels. She has served as the head goalkeeper coach for the USA Futures program since 2006.

Kinsella graduated cum laude from Missouri State in 2008 with a degree in marketing management. She earned a master’s degree in physical education, with an emphasis on coaching, from Central Michigan in 2012. She is also a member of NFHCA and USFH.
