Nigel Brown is in his seventh season at the University of Delaware as an athletics academic counselor of 2016-17.
He is responsible for providing academic guidance, educational, developmental and career counseling and eligibility certification for student-athletes.
Additionally, Brown teaches an orientation course for freshmen student-athletes and is the advisor for the Gamma Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma (National College Athlete Honor Society). Chi Alpha Sigma is a nonprofit organization established to recognize collegiate student-athletes who earn a varsity letter in at least one sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and senior years.
Prior to joining the Blue Hen family, he spent two and half years serving as academic advisor at Delaware State University, Academic Services for Student-Athletes. He also served as the liaison for transfer students, PDT, and book procedure.
Originally from the Bronx, N.Y., Nigel earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Delaware State in 2006 and a master’s in Sports Administration in 2008. During his master’s studies, he spent two years working for the athletics department post-graduate as an academic advisor.
He resides in Middletown, Del. with his wife, Casi, and children, Amani, Laylah, and Nathan.
