REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -- The Blue Hen women’s golf squad posted a three-round score of 909 to win the team title this weekend at the first annual University of Delaware Fall Invitational held at Rehoboth Beach Country Club.

Delaware cruised to the 10-team tournament title, posting a 16-stroke victory over Penn which finished in second place with a 925 score. Rollins came in third place at 929, Brown was fourth at 959, and Towson rounded out the top five at 960. The Blue Hen “B” team finished in eighth place with a 990 score.

UD freshman Grace Chua carded a nine over par 75-76-71-222 on the par 71, 5,978-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club course, and finished in second place in the individual standings after losing a one-hole playoff to medalist Sophia Chen of Penn. Chua’s final round of 71 was the lowest of her Blue Hen career, as she posted her fourth top 10 finish during the five tournaments this fall.

Blue Hen junior Andi Slane shot a 14 over par 72-77-78-227 during the weekend to tie for fourth place, while freshman Vitoria Teixeira finished in seventh place with her 15 over par score of 76-76-76-228. Junior Amanda Terzian tied for eighth place with a 19 over par 80-79-73-232 while sophomore Nathalie Filler, playing for the Delaware “B” squad, was the fifth Blue Hen to finish among the top 10 as she tied for 10th place with a 21 over par 77-80-77-234.

UD sophomore Baralee Theinthong, who carded an 84-81-78-243, and junior Vimonthip Benjasupawan, who recorded an 81-84-78-243, each tied for 26th place at 30 over par.

Freshman Marie Bogenez finished in 39th place with a 43 over par 85-87-84-256 for the Delaware “B” squad, while junior Annie Bowlsby tied for 40th place at 86-86-85-257, 44 over par. Junior Emma Sills, who carded a 66 over par 89-94-96-279, tied for 52nd place in the standings.

Delaware wrapped up a terrific 2013 fall campaign that saw the Blue Hens win three of the five tournaments in which they competed. UD was also victorious at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational on Sept. 8-9 and the Rutgers Invitational on Oct. 14-15.

"I am so very proud of all 10 girls on this team!," said Blue Hen head coach Patty Post. "They have had an excellent fall season and this was a great way to cap it off!"
