ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- The University of Delaware women’s golf team closed play at the James Madison/Eagle Landing Invitational by carding a 307 team score on Sunday, posting a strong third place at the tournament.

The Blue Hens posted a three-day total of 899 during the weekend, finishing third out of 16 teams. Elon captured the team title with an 892 score, followed by Georgia State at 896 and Delaware. UD posted its fifth top-five finish out of seven tournaments so far during the 2013-14 campaign.

Blue Hen sophomore Andi Slane had an impressive performance at the invitational, as she carded her second straight round of 74 on Sunday on the par 72, 6,208-yard course Eagle Landing Golf Club. Slane tied for fourth place in the individual standings with a four over par 72-74-74-220, tying for her best finish of the season.

Freshman Vitoria Teixeira recorded the Blue Hens’ lowest round on Sunday with a one over par 73, and she finished in 19th place with a 72-79-73-224, eight over par.

UD junior Amanda Terzian finished in a tie for 39th place with a 14 over par score of 73-75-82-230, while sophomore Nathalie Filler carded a 15 over par 74-74-83-231 to finish in 42nd place.

Freshman Grace Chua fired her second straight round of 78 on Sunday, finishing in a tie for 50th place with a 79-78-78-235, 19 over par. Sophomore Vimonthip Benjasupawan, playing as an individual, also tied for 50th place with her 19 over par 78-81-76-235.

Tiffany Chan of Daytona State posted a three shot victory with a one under par 73-71-71-215 to earn the tournament’s medalist honors.

“We had another very solid performance by our young team!,” said Blue Hen head coach Patty Post. “Congratulations to Elon for playing great in tough conditions. We have really come out ready to go this spring; I am very proud of our team.”
