WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware women’s outdoor track & field team enjoyed an outstanding showing during the first day of the 49th annual Colonial Relays at William & Mary Thursday afternoon as three Blue Hen weight throwers posted top 10 finishes.

Delaware seniors Alana Pantale and Courtney Sniscak and junior Monica Hagenauer led the way for the Blue Hens in the women’s hammer throw as the three-day meet got underway at Zable Stadium.

The meet, one of the top events on the East Coast each year, will continue Friday morning and conclude on Saturday afternoon.

Pantale led the way for the Hens as she placed third overall with a toss of 155-feet, 2-inches, just 10-feet off the winning throw of 165-3 by Rhea Phipps of Rider. Mt. St. Mary’s senior Madeleine Midles placed second with a distance of 159-6.

Also for Delaware, Sniscak was fourth overall with a toss of 149-8 while Hagenauer was ninth with a throw of 134-3.
