Field Hockey Coaching Staff
Jordan McKee
Assistant Coach
University of Delaware field hockey head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof announced April 7, 2016 the hiring of Jordan McKee as an assistant coach for the five-time CAA Champions.

McKee is elevated as a full-time assistant coach after previously serving the past two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach with the program.

“I am thrilled to continue my time with the University of Delaware,” McKee exclaimed.  “Having been a volunteer with the Blue Hens for the last two fall seasons, I have seen and understand the commitment and hard work undertaken by the student-athletes, coaches and support staff in order to making this program successful.  I look forward to helping continue this success and being a part of taking this program to the next level.”

A native of Ireland, McKee has over four years of experience working with Delaware field hockey as a summer camp coach, counselor and volunteer assistant coach.  During his tenure at UD, McKee has helped guide the Blue Hens to the 2014 and 2015 CAA titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.

“I take great joy in welcoming Jordan and his wife, Vicky, to the Blue Hens field hockey family,” remarked Van de Kerkhof.  “We are very excited to have a familiar face to our players group, coaching staff and program return to Newark.  Jordan has done a tremendous job serving as our volunteer coach the past two seasons.  During his time with the Hens, he has proven to be a hard worker, is passionate about our student-athletes, program and university and has the ability to coach and improve field hockey performances individually and as a team.  I am confident in his ability and understanding on how to further develop, guide and support our current and future student-athletes, positioning Delaware field hockey to further improve and maintain its strong academic and athletic performances, involvement in community service and bring further excitement and connection to our growing alumni and fan base.”

Prior to joining the Delaware staff, McKee coached with the North Down Hockey Club in Comber, Northern Ireland where the Women’s First XI team finished as runners-up in the 2014 Irish Hockey Trophy and his Men’s Second XI squad was named champions of the 2013 UHU Junior 2 League. He also has experience with Regent House Grammar School, Servette Hockey Club, Grosvenor Ladies Hockey Club and Queen’s University Ladies Hockey Club while developing professionally with Swiss Hockey Federation and Irish Hockey Association.

A graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, McKee earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and politics in 2009 while picking up a post graduate diploma in sports development and coaching from the University of Ulster in 2014.

“As a program we talk about ‘earning the jersey,’” Van de Kerkhof stated.  “It turns out that my former volunteer assistants – Missy Arenz and Jordan McKee – have earned their assistant coach positions with our program.  I feel fortunate to have a great staff.”
