Jake Schrum joined University of Delaware Athletics in January, 2015 in the new position of technology and events manager.
At Delaware, Schrum will serve as an event manager for various athletic program competitions, arrange and coordinate set-up and breakdown for all home contests, manage crowd control, and monitor and secure venues following home events.
As an event manager at the Bob Carpenter Center, he will coordinate all aspects of events operations, consult clients on technical requirements, and manage and maintain all the athletic facilities technical equipment, including video boards, scoreboards, scorer’s tables, sound systems, and lighting systems.
“We are excited to have Jake join our Blue Hens family," said Alicia Greco-Walker, UD associate athletics director for events and operations. "He brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of event operations and technology management, which will help him to hit the ground running here at Delaware.”
Schrum, who earned his degree in communications studies from West Virginia University in 2008, comes to Delaware after serving for the lasts two years as assistant director of marketing for the Wilmington (Del.) Blue Rocks Baseball Club, a Kansas City Royals Class A affiliate.
During his time with the Blue Rocks, Schrum planned and executed in-game events and promotions, managed installation of signage, sold stadium advertising as part of the corporate sales team, designed sales and game graphics, and produced and edited commercials and videos.
He previously had worked with the Blue Rocks as a community relations assistant in 2009 and as a production and promotions assistant in 2010.
Prior to his most recent stint with the Blue Rocks, Schrum served two years as promotions manager for the Lake County Captains Baseball Club, the Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians in Eastlake, Ohio. He coordinated all aspects of game day events and promotions, maintained the stadium video board and sound systems, and oversaw game day promotions.
He and his wife, Tara, reside in Newark, Del. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter, Juliet, on July 3, 2016.
