Jordan Skolnick, one of the nation’s most exceptional young stars in the area of athletics development and fundraising, joined the University of Delaware Athletics team in July, 2016.
Skolnick, who spent the last five years overseeing all fundraising efforts for University of Michigan Athletics, serves as Delaware’s newest Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development.
“We couldn’t be happier to have Jordan join the University of Delaware Athletics family,” said new University of Delaware Director of Athletics Chrissi Rawak, who worked closely with Skolnick at Michigan in her previous role overseeing external relations and strategic initiatives in Ann Arbor. “Over the last five years I have seen first-hand not only his tremendous skills as a fundraiser, but his ability to create and enhance relationships with former student-athletes and friends of athletics. He will play a vital role in the success of Delaware Athletics and the University. We are excited to see the strong impact he will have on our programs.”
At Delaware, Skolnick will be responsible for all aspects of UD athletics development and will work with coaches and University leadership to develop the relationships and the resources the teams need to excel. The mission of Athletics Development is to engage alumni and friends of UD Athletics to enhance and strengthen the student-athlete experience. He will also be a member of the Athletic Department senior management team.
“I am incredibly honored and excited to be joining the University of Delaware family,” said Skolnick, a native of Storrs, Conn. “I'm grateful for the opportunity to make a difference at UD and be a part of a world class institution that embraces the student-athlete experience. My wife (Christine) and I look forward to being back on the east coast and becoming Blue Hens.”
Skolnick has spent the last decade in the athletics fundraising field as three of the nation’s most prestigious institutions, serving stints at Yale, North Carolina, and Michigan. He began his career as a development and community outreach intern at Yale (2007-09) before moving on to UNC where he was a graduate intern with The Rams Club for one year in 2010-11.
While at Michigan, he served as assistant director of development for annual giving (2011-12) and director of development for Eastern states (2012-15) before being promoted to his most recent position.
As Associate Athletic Director for Development during the past year, Skolnick was responsible for oversight of all fundraising efforts for Michigan Athletics, including annual giving, major and principal gift.
He led a team of nine employees and worked closely with Rawak in directing a $355 million Campaign for Michigan Athletics, the first comprehensive athletics fundraising campaign at UM and one that has raised more than $318 million to date with two years remaining.
He personally raised over $18 million for Michigan Athletics since 2012 and raised over $5 million for other units on campus during that time frame. He served as the Chief Development Officer representative for athletics and was a member of the External Relations Leadership Team.
“I am thrilled to welcome Jordan to UD,” said Beth Brand, UD Associate Vice President for Development. “Jordan possesses a proven track record of success in raising funds and building lifelong relationships with alumni and friends of athletics programs. His experience will serve UD Athletics well as we focus on growing resources to support our student-athletes and coaches.”
A 2007 American Studies graduate of Brandeis University where he also played four years of soccer, Skolnick earned his master’s degree in sport administration from the University of North Carolina in 2011.
