Keith Anderson will begin his first season as an assistant coach with the University of Delaware volleyball program during the 2017 season.

Anderson recently completed his second season as an assistant coach on the Texas-Arlington volleyball staff. He served as UTA’s recruiting coordinator, while focusing instruction with the Mavericks’ defensive specialists and liberos. Anderson also worked with UTA’s middle blockers and setters, directed opponent scouting reports and video breakdowns, and served as the coordinator of all camp operations.

Anderson helped the Mavericks win 17 matches and finish in fourth place in the Sun Belt Conference during the 2016 season. Libero Taylor Murata set a program record for digs by a freshman, while middle blocker Madison McConnell was named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Week in late September. UTA won 19 matches, including 10 in conference play, during Anderson’s first season in 2015, when Stacey Koch earned second team All-Conference honors.

Anderson spent the 2014 season as a volunteer assistant coach at Rice, helping the Owls finish 23-10 and come up one set short of winning the Conference USA title. He helped Rice lead the C-USA in digs per set while the team also placed among the top 100 in the nation in total digs, digs per set and opponent hitting percentage.

In October 2014, Anderson was named one of 12 recipients of the AVCA Coaches 4 Coaches Scholarship.

Anderson graduated from Texas A&M in 2014 with a degree in sport management and minors in coaching and psychology. He played on the men’s club volleyball team, helping lead the Aggies to a national title in 2010 while earning first team All-American honors.

A Winthrop Harbor, Ill. native, Anderson has also coached at the club level with the Brazos Valley Juniors, Woodlands WAVE and Houston Juniors.

“I am so excited to join the Blue Hen family,” Anderson said. “The energy and buzz throughout the athletic department and the University of Delaware is exactly what I was looking for. This department embodies a family culture, in which I am really going to enjoy working. I want to give a huge thank you to Sara, Jenn (Judy) and (Director of Athletics) Chrissi (Rawak) for allowing me the opportunity to join this staff. I am looking forward to working with both Sara and Kim to continue pushing this program higher. There is still a lot of untapped potential on top of an already solid foundation, and I’m ready to get after it.”

“As this process was going on, it became apparent that Keith would be a natural fit to round out our staff,” Blue Hen head coach Sara Matthews stated. “He is very positive and upbeat person that will fit in great with the culture we are building. His skill set in the gym will be a great complement to us. He is talented and hardworking, and we look forward to welcoming him to Newark.”
