Athletic Scholarships and Coaching Endowments
Scholarship funds provide stable, long-term financial support for University of Delaware Athletics. Endowed funds last in perpetuity and are invested to protect the enduring impact of the donor’s intentions. Endowed scholarships and program funds may be created with a minimum donor commitment of $50,000 given over a period of up to five years.
Each year, the University of Delaware awards more than 220 scholarships to deserving Blue Hens Student-Athletes. As the costs of providing an excellent education continue to rise, endowed scholarship funds provide crucial financial support to allow Delaware Athletics to continue to recruit and graduate talented student-athletes. Endowed scholarship donors are invited to the annual Athletics Celebration of Scholarship reception where they have the opportunity to meet the recipient(s) of their scholarship.
At Delaware, we want exceptional people in our programs at every level to help keep the athletic component of a Delaware education equal in strength to the academic one. Our success depends on our ability to hire and retain the best coaches. By recruiting leaders of the highest caliber, we also expand our ability to recruit the most talented student-athletes. A head coach’s leadership role in developing our student-athletes in all aspects of life is a core component of the mission of Delaware Athletics. Named coaching positions at Delaware validate a commitment to the value of leadership in our programs.
