Club Trap and Skeet

The Trap & Skeet Club team is all about creating an environment where people can get together to do something they love, while also meeting and making new friends. We strive to teach proper firearm safety and to promote the shotgun sports in the college world, while always looking to teach those who want to learn, and allow those who want to compete at the collegiate level to do so.

Organizational Meeting(s)

The next meeting is TBA, please contact the team president (email below) for more information.

As a co-ed sport, we accept both men and women. We accept as many students that come out to try the sport. At this point, there is no cutoff.

Practice Information

Our practices are held at the Wilmington Trap Association, a range that is located on Rt.40 in Newark, about 15 minutes from campus. Those that do not have a car can carpool with other members. We typically hold practices at 2pm on Wednesdays and 12 noon on Saturdays.

National and/or Regional Affiliation

There are no collegiate leagues for the shotgun sports, however, we are a member of the Association of College Unions International (ACUI), which holds the national championships annually.

Membership Requirements

We do not require very strict attendance - we ask at least 2 practices per month. We also require all new members to attend a firearms and range safety course to be conducted at the start of each semester. Dues are $70 for the year or $35/semester. There are also range dues each member must pay, based on how many rounds are shot.

Equipment Required

There is no required equipment; those who do not have their own shotgun can use some of the others that we have at the range. All other equipment, including eye and ear protection are provided. Members must purchase their own shells for each practice, which we offer at a reduced price. To keep a firearm on campus, a student must contact Public Safety and arrange storage at their facility. No one is permitted to keep a firearm in a University residence hall.
