ANNAPOLIS, Md. – University of Delaware freshman Esmée Peet (Zeewolde, The Netherlands) added another award under her belt as Synapse Sports named her the 2013 Division I Field Hockey Rookie of the Year.

Additionally, Peet was named a Second Team All-American and All-Rookie Team member while classmate Meghan Winesett (Centreville, Va.) also earned All-Rookie Team honors.

Peet, the CAA Player and Rookie of the Year, ended the season second on the team with 32 points on 13 goals and six assists.  Her 32 points is a new single-season record for a UD freshman, besting the previous record by eight points.  Additionally, the mark was good to tie for third place in the CAA.  Peet also garnered All-CAA First Team, All-Rookie Team and NFHCA Division I All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team honors.

Winesett also rewrote the Delaware history books this season as she posted nine assists, a new program record for a freshman.  Additionally, she tied for the CAA lead in assists.  Winesett collected All-CAA Second Team, All-Rookie Team and NFHCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team accolades.

The 2013 season marked one of the most successful in Delaware history after the Blue Hens posted a program record 17 victories.  UD earned both CAA regular season and tournament championships en route to a NCAA Tournament berth.  The Hens finished 1-1 in the NCAA Tournament following a play-in game win over Liberty before falling to No. 3 North Carolina.
