Delaware Women’s Golfers Lead Team Standings After First Day of JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- The University of Delaware women’s golf squad fired a 291 team score on Friday, as the Blue Hens lead the 16-team field following the first day of the James Madison/Eagle Landing Invitational.

The Blue Hens’ 291 total is the lowest team score in the history of the three-year program. Delaware holds a one-shot lead over Georgia State, which sits in second place with a 292 score. Elon is third at 293, while Western Carolina is fourth at 295 and Southern Illinois rounds out the top five at 296.

Blue Hen sophomore Andi Slane and freshman Vitoria Teixeira each fired an even par 72 during Friday’s opening round, ending the day tied for sixth place in the individual standings.

Junior Amanda Terzian fired a one over par 73 to tie for 12th place, while sophomore Nathalie Filler sits in a tie for 23rd place after her two over par 74.

Sophomore Vimonthip Benjasupawan, playing as an individual, is tied for 60th place with a six over par 78, while freshman Grace Chua is tied for 66th place following her seven over par 79 opening round.

Emily Brooks of Elon and Berglind Bjornsdottir of UNC Greensboro are tied for the individual lead as both players carded a three under par 69 on Friday.

The invitational continues with the second round on Saturday, before the final round on Sunday.
