RICHMOND, Va. – Seniors Troy Beneck (Wilmington, Del.) and Adam Lawton (Estepona, Spain) were honored Wednesday by the Colonial Athletic Association as the league’s Doubles Team of the Week.

The duo led the Blue Hens to a 5-2 victory over Villanova Sunday at DuPont Country Club to move to 3-5 overall on the season.

Beneck and Lawton paired up for an 8-4 win over Villanova’s No. 1 duo of Kelly Donaldson and Mark Miller.  With the victory, Beneck and Lawton have won two straight and improved to 19-5 overall in singles action this season.

The pair hold the Blue Hens program record with a career mark of 58-21 over three seasons.

Additionally, Beneck broke the school record with 71 career singles victories Sunday.  He also owns the Delaware record with 74 doubles wins while Lawton is tied for second with 59 doubles victories.

The Hens return to play this Thursday by hosting Saint Joseph’s at 3:30 at the Delaware Field House Outdoor Courts.  Delaware will also host Bucknell at 3 p.m. Sunday at DuPont Country Club.
