NEW YORK – University of Delaware women's basketball alumna and current Chicago Sky standout Elena Delle Donne was named the recipient of the Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award in recognition of her outstanding work in the community, the WNBA announced Wednesday.

The award recognizes the player whose outreach inspires the community and reflects Staley's leadership, spirit, charitable efforts, and love for the game.

"The minute she joined the league, Elena has done everything possible to make a difference on the basketball court and in the community," said WNBA President Laurel J. Richie.  "Her resilience and dedication as an athlete is matched by her passion for making a difference in the community.  She's a genuine role model in everything that she does."
