PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The University of Delaware women’s soccer team closes out its 2016 regular season on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Drexel at Vidas Field as the Blue Hens look to qualify for a spot in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.

The Blue Hens are 4-13 overall, and are tied for seventh place in the league standings with a 3-5 mark for nine points. Delaware needs to defeat the Dragons on Sunday to remain in contention for a playoff berth, depending on other league results throughout the day. Hofstra and Towson are also 3-5 for nine points, while UNCW and Charleston are tied for sixth place in the conference with 11 points.

Delaware remained in the playoff hunt with a crucial 2-0 shutout at Elon last Sunday, as Dani Kabat and Madison Brosler each scored goals while Kailyn Rekos made two saves to post the shutout. Natalie Zelenky leads the Blue Hens with six goals and 15 points on the year, while she is tied for the team lead with three assists along with Nikki Adams. Brosler has scored four goals on the season, while Kabat has added three. Rekos has started all 17 games in goal, posting 101 saves and a 1.83 goals against average.

Drexel enters the match with an 8-6-3 overall record, and the Dragons currently sit in third place in the CAA standings with a 4-4-2 conference mark for 14 points. Vanessa Kara and Shaelyn McCarty have each scored six goals for Drexel, with Kara adding a team-high five assists for 17 points.

Delaware leads the all-time series with the Dragons, 14-2-3, and has won the last three meetings including last year’s 1-0 victory in Newark on a goal by Zelenky.
