Delaware Menís Golfers Remain Seventh After Second Day of ODU Outer Banks Intercollegiate

POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team fired a 289 round on Monday to remain in seventh place following the second round of the Old Dominion Outer Banks Intercollegiate.

The Blue Hens, who recorded a 288 score during Sunday’s opening round, currently sit in seventh place out of 18 squads heading into the final round on Tuesday with a 572 total. Ball State leads the field with a 558 score, followed by Akron at 561 and Old Dominion at 565.

UD senior Marc Oliveri carded a one over par 72 during his round on Monday on the par 71, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic Golf Course, ending the day tied for 10th place with a two under par score of 68-72-140. Junior Jack Gianniny enjoyed the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen, as he fired a one under par 70 to move into a tie for 19th place at 73-70-143, one over par.

Fellow junior Blaine Lafferty recorded an ever par 71 during his second round at the tournament, and is now tied for 30th place with a three over par 74-71-145. Classmate Kieran Purcell, who fired a 76 on Monday, is tied for 47th place with a seven over par 73-76-149, while sophomore Mark Benevento is tied for 69th place with a 13 over par score of 78-77-155.

Keegan McKinney of Ball State leads the individual standings at six under par, while J.B. Williams of Akron and David Langley of Old Dominion are each one shot back.

The Blue Hens close their fall season on Tuesday with the final round of the invitational.
