Delaware Swimmers Set Meet Records, Capture Team Titles at Franklin & Marshall Invitational
LANCASTER, Pa. -- University of Delaware swimming teams brought home two meet titles on Sunday as the Blue Hens captured both the men’s and women’s team titles at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational.
The Delaware women outswam 12 other teams with 1,667 points, edging past runner-up Washington & Lee with 1,591 points. On the men’s side, the Hens picked up 1,629 points to outdistance runner-up Washington & Lee (1,401).
Delaware swimmers set several meet records during the three-day meet led by Mina Feyrer, who won the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:01.92, and Samantha Marino, who won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:01.60 on Sunday. Also on Sunday for the UD women, Sarah Braatz won the 500 freestyle (5:00.46).
The UD women won six events during the week with Braatz having a hand in four of them.
The Delaware men captured nine first place finishes during the weekend, including three on Sunday as Cory Camp won the 200 individual medley (1:53.17), Patrick Savidge won the 500 freestyle (4:34.29), and Asher Kiely won the 200 backstroke (1:52.16). Savidge won four events during the weekend while Kiely had three victories and Camp chipped in with two wins.
Delaware will take a week off and return to action Nov. 30 through Dec. 3 when selected swimmers compete at the USS Winter Nationals in Atlanta.
