University of Delaware Menís Golf Announces 2017 Spring Schedule
NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team will compete in five tournaments prior to participating in the conference championship as Blue Hen head coach Mike Keogh announced the squad’s 2017 spring schedule on Monday.
Delaware opens the campaign on Mar. 19-21 at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va., before competing in the Villanova Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa. on Mar. 27-28.
The Blue Hens will participate in The Manor Intercollegiate hosted by Longwood at The Manor Golf Club in Farmville, Va. on Apr. 1-2, and the following week will take part in the Finegan Invitational hosted by La Salle at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pa. on Apr. 10.
Delaware heads to the Rhode Island Invitational at Quidnessett Country Club in Naragansett, R.I. on Apr. 17-18, before wrapping up the year at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship at Salisbury Country Club in Midlothian, Va. on Apr. 21-23.
The Blue Hens are coming off a successful fall season that saw UD post three top-four finishes and claim the Colgate/Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational title. Marc Oliveri was the medalist at the tournament, and led the Blue Hens with a 72.00 average round during the fall. Jack Gianniny was second on the team with a 72.17 stroke average, and posted a team-high three top-10 finishes. Blaine Lafferty (72.25 average round), Kieran Purcell (73.75) and Mark Benevento (74.58) also competed in all five tournaments for Delaware.
