The surging University of Delaware men's lacrosse squad meets the Manhattan Jaspers in the seventh all-time meeting between the two schools Tuesday afternoon at Delaware Stadium.
Delaware (4-2) enters the game riding a three-game win streak while Manhattan (2-3) comes off a setback at home to Saint Joseph’s this past Saturday.
Delaware ran its winning streak to three games on Saturday as the Blue Hens made the short trip north to Villanova and found some revenge against the Wildcats with a 13-10 victory. Andrew Romagnoli scored four goals, Charlie Kitchen netted two goals and dished out three assists, and freshman goalkeeper sensation Matt DeLuca recorded 15 saves in the victory. Although Villanova held advantages in shots, groundballs, and faceoffs, Delaware committed a season-low seven turnovers (lowest total since 2013).
The Hens led just 7-6 at halftime but received goals from Joe Eisele and Kitchen in the first six minutes of the second half to take control. The victory marked the 500th victory in Delaware’s all-time history since the sport began in 1948.
Manhattan, a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, brings in a record of 2-3, including a triple overtime 14-13 win over Wagner and a double overtime victory at Hartford.
The Jaspers also own setbacks of 17-10 to Bryant, 18-8 vs. Robert Morris, and 18-6 vs. Saint Joseph’s this past Saturday. Against SJU, the Jaspers were outshot 40-31 and were able to capitalize on just one of seven extra man opportunities. Parker Giarratana had three goals for MC.
