Delaware Women’s Golfers Tie For Ninth Place at UNF Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Delaware sophomore Valentina Mueller and freshman Ariane Klotz each posted top 10 finishes while the Blue Hen women’s golf team finished in a tie for ninth place this week at the North Florida Collegiate.
Delaware, which recorded 307 and 297 scores on Monday, carded a 308 during the invitational’s final round on Tuesday to finish tied for ninth out of 16 teams with a 912 three-round total. Southern Mississippi and Memphis tied for first place with 895 scores, with the Golden Eagles capturing the team title on a scorecard tiebreaker. Old Dominion and Daytona State tied for third place at 896, while Campbell rounded out the top five with an 898 total.
Mueller carded a five over par 77 during her final round on the par 72, 6,002-yard Jacksonville Golf and Country Club course, posting the best finish of her career by tying for sixth place with a five over par 76-68-77-221. Klotz had the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen with a one over par 73, as she notched her fourth top 10 finish by carding a six over par 76-73-73-222 to tie for eighth place.
UD senior Vitoria Teixeira tied for 54th place at the tournament with a 20 over par 77-79-80-236, while sophomore Ashley Dingman fired a 22 over par 78-77-83-238 to tie for 63rd place.
Senior Grace Chua finished in 77th place with a 27 over par 83-82-78-243 while freshman Josefina Fernandez-Davila, who played as an individual and carded a four over par 76 on Tuesday, tied for 31st place with a 12 over par 76-76-76-228.
The tournament medalist was Sana Tufail of Old Dominion, who posted a two-shot victory after firing a three under par 70-70-73-213.
Delaware returns to action on March 27-28 when the Blue Hens compete in the William & Mary Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
