RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware juniors Sarah Braatz and Justin Mitchell have been named to the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic Team, the conference announced Thursday.

The conference selected one student-athlete from each of the seven CAA schools that sponsor women's swimming and diving and five from each men's team based on outstanding academic success.

The selections were part of the overall 2017 awards in which the CAA announced the league's Swimmer of the Year, Diver of the Year, and Coach of the Year on both the men's and women's side.

Braatz (Newark, Del./Newark), a financial planning and public policy major, was one of the Blue Hens' top all-around contributors this past season, finishing with the team's best season time in the 500 freestyle (5:00.46), 1,000 freestyle (10:31.41), and 1,650 freestyle (17:22.24).

She finished ninth in the 1,650 freestyle at the 2017 CAA Championships and competed on three different relay teams.

Mitchell (Lititz, Pa./Warwick), an exercise science major, is also a two-time CAA All-Academic Honor Roll selection.

One of the top distance contributors on the Blue Hens, Mitchell swam the 1,000 yard freestyle in 9:58.83 at Iona, earning him the third fastest time of the season. He also contributed the third fastest 1,650 yard freestyle time during the season.
