NEWARK, Del. -- The 15th-ranked James Madison softball team erupted for 15 runs on 11 hits as the Dukes completed a Colonial Athletic Association weekend sweep of the University of Delaware with a 15-1 victory over the Blue Hens Saturday afternoon at the UD Softball Stadium.

The Dukes (37-6, 10-2 CAA) struck first in the top of the second inning when Kierstin Roadcap smacked a three-run homer, before JMU added five runs in the top of the third. Taylor Newton and Odicci Alexander had RBI singles during the rally, while Niki Prince contributed a two-run double.

JMU then put the game out of reach by scoring seven times during the fourth inning. Two runs scored on bases loaded walks, and after a two-run single by Prince, Madison Naujokas capped the rally with a three-run homer.

Delaware (17-21, 5-7 CAA) scored its lone run of the day during the bottom of the fifth, when Alyshia Dellatore led off with a double and came around to score on a double by Devon Steiner.

Dukes pitcher Megan Good improved to 27-1 after firing three scoreless innings, while UD starter Jordan Cargile dropped to 13-12  as she gave up six runs in 2.2 frames of work.

Delaware returns to action next weekend when the Blue Hens head to Charleston for a three-game CAA series with the Cougars.
