PRINCETON, N.J.  -- The University of Delaware women started the annual Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on a high note Friday evening as junior Sarah Hillman earned All-East honors in the discus.

The first day of action of the three-day event hosted by Princeton University at Weaver Stadium had just seven events contested on Friday and Hillman was the lone Delaware student-athlete competing.

Hillman, a native of Dover, Del., continued her impressive post-season performances as she placed third overall with a toss of 160-feet, 1-inch to earn All-East honors for the second straight year. She placed 11th in the event as a freshman in 2015 before placing second last year.

The standout junior was coming off a career-day at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships last Saturday, May 6, when she captured the CAA discus title with a conference and school record toss of 186-2. That throw was the seventh best toss in the nation this season at the NCAA Division I level.

Senior Michelle Wallerstedt of George Mason captured the ECAC discus title Friday with a toss of 174-5 while Rachel Boody of Robert Morris was second with a toss of 162-9.

Delaware currently stands in ninth place out of 25 teams with six points. Hampton leads with 16 points followed by William & Mary (13), Princeton (12), Cornell (11), and Iona (11).
