LEXINGTON, Ky. -- University of Delaware junior Sarah Hillman closed out the 2017 season Friday afternoon by competing at the second day of the NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track & Field East Regionals at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track & Field Complex.

Hillman, a nursing major from Dover, Del. (Polytech High School), competed in the discus throw event but did not advance as she fouled on all three attempts and tied for 46th place in the standings. The top 12 finishers now advance to the NCAA Championships to be held June 7-10 at the University of Oregon.

A 15th place finisher at the NCAA Regionals last year, Hillman entered the meet with the nation's ninth best throw this season, a school-record toss of 186-2 that would have been good enough to win the event that was captured by Florida State's Gleneve Grange (184-6) on Friday.

Hillman capped an outstanding outdoor season that saw her capture the Colonial Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field discus title, earn the CAA Outstanding Field Performer Award, and be selected as the team's UD Alumni Association Most Valuable Player Award winner.

She also earned All-East honors by placing third in the discus and was also 24th in the shot put at the ECAC meet at Princeton earlier this month. She won three meet titles this season and also placed ninth in the discus competition at the Penn Relays in April.
