  • The Blue Hens open the year ranked No. 3 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Preseason Poll. Delaware has never been ranked higher than No. 6, a ranking that came during the 1998 campaign.
  • Delaware captured the program’s first-ever NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship in 2016.
  • The Hens finished the year with a remarkable 23-2 overall record while outscoring opponents by a margin of 100-39 over the course of the entire season.

  • Last season, then-No. 14 Delaware posted a 5-4 victory over Indiana at Fred P. Rullo Stadium in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Greta Nauck led UD with three points (1g, 1a) while Emmeline Oltmans tallied three saves in the win.
  • Also last season, the then-No. 8 Blue Hens knocked off No. 9 Louisville, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Duke University. Maura Zarkoski ’17 posted the lone goal of the game, which came off of an assist from Lisa Giezeman. Emmeline Oltmans was clutch for the Hens with six saves, five of which came in the second half, for her fourth shutout of the season and eighth of her career.
  • Overall, Delaware is 3-1 against the Cardinals, including wins in 2002 (3-2; at No. 4 Louisville) and 2004 (1-0; OT at Michigan State).
