HEN SCRATCHINGS  🐔

POSITIVE BEGINNING: The Blue Hens opened the season with a 2-0 victory over Bryant University. In the match, the Blue Hens received a penalty kick goal from senior captain Thibault Philippe and goal from High Point transfer Chad Poarch. Poarch’s second half goal was a sliding strike into the back of the net from the foot of John Schroeder. In net, Hens goalkeeper Todd Morton produced his 12th career shutout, earning his 20th career victory.

OPENING SUCCESS: For the fifth consecutive season the Blue Hens earned a victory in the opening match of the season. Head coach Ian Hennessy improved to 8-4 all-time in his 12 season openers at Delaware. The Blue Hens won their first four matches last season, and will look to improve to 2-0 for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

MORTON CLIMBING UP THE RANKS: Morton has a chance to continue to work his way up the record books this season. The goalie needs just five more victories to become the winningest goalie in program history. The redshirt junior needs just three more shutouts to move into second place on the all-time shutout list.
