HEN SCRATCHINGS  🐔

 • STARTING THE SECOND SEASON: Thursday night’s game is the start of Colonial Athletic Association Play for the Blue Hens. Delaware was projected to finish eighth in CAA in the Preseason Poll. Delaware looks to return to the CAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. Hofstra was projected to finish fifth in the CAA, while Towson was projected to 10th.

• LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK: Delaware will look to bounce back this weekend after a tough 3-0 loss at #20 Princeton. The Blue Hens are 1-1-1 this season following a loss. Delaware successfully bounced back from a 1-0 loss to Penn with a 1-0 victory over La Salle earlier in the season. 

• GRANT STADIUM SUCCESS: The Blue Hens are 2-1 this season at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium. Delaware’s lone home loss of the season was to then ranked No. 11 Georgetown (1-0).

• ONE GOAL DECISIONS: Sunday’s loss was the first time in Delaware’s first nine games that the game was not decided by one goal or less. The Blue Hens are 3-3 in one goal decisions this season.

• CAA OPENERS: The Blue Hens are looking to win their season opener for the second consecutive season. Last year Delaware defeated Northeastern 2-1 in overtime in the CAA opener.

• EXTRA TIME, NO PROBLEM: Delaware has played six overtime games this season, and the Blue Hens are 3-1-2 this season in overtime. Delaware has played back-to-back overtime home games, and played four straight overtime games this season.

SERIES INFORMATION 💪 

• Delaware is 7-18 all-time against the Pride, but did defeat Hofstra a season ago.
• Last season's victory was the Blue Hens first since 2011 over the Pride
• The Blue Hens are 15-7-2 all-time against its closest geographic CAA rival.
• The Tigers snapped Delaware’s perfect 2-0 start last season, dropping the Blue Hens 1-0.
• Delaware has played both Hofstra and Towson every since 1995.
• UD is facing Hofstra at home for the second consecutive year and will travel to Towson for the second consecutive season.
