NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team dropped a three-set match to league-leading College of Charleston Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The Cougars captured the match by set scores of 25-18, 25-7, 25-22 to improve to 24-4 overall and 13-1 in league play. The Blue Hens fell to 5-20 overall and 3-12 in conference action.

Delaware celebrated Senior Day by honoring seniors Raven Luckett and Daria Robinson prior to their last home match of the season (photos by Jeff Fannon). Robinson led the team with seven kills, while Luckett contributed three kills and two digs. Sophomore Maria Bellinger contributed six kills, 10 digs and two blocks on the afternoon, while libero Kori Rasmussen also tied for the team lead with 10 digs.

Sophomore Bailey Pearlman posted four digs, while Brooke Robertson, Courtnie Roberts and Julia Hayes contributed two each. Roberts led the team with 13 assists while Abby Skryd contributed 11 assists and five digs.

Charleston’s Devon Rachel led the Cougars with 15 kills, while Krissy Mummey posted 13 kills and eight blocks and Allison Beckman handed out 41 assists.

The Blue Hens came out strong in the first set, jumping out to a 6-4 lead before the Cougars took control. Charleston led for virtually the entire second stanza, but Delaware answered with a 16-9 lead in the third set. The remainder of the third frame was close, featuring three tie scores, but Charleston eventually closed it out to win the match in three sets.

Delaware travels to Towson next Sunday to close out regular season play.
