WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men’s swimming and diving team received impressive performances from distance swimmer Kevin Basch and freshman diver Jacob Lukens this weekend at the CAA Pod Meet hosted by UNCW, but the Blue Hens fell to both William & Mary (235-112) and UNCW (236 -117) at Seahawk Natatorium.

Lukens won the 3M board title (253.45) for the Blue Hens (1-4, 0-2 CAA) and finished second on the 1M board (223.85) just four points behind Seth O’Dea of UNCW (3-3, 1-1 CAA). In the pool, Basch won the 500 free (4:37.17) and finished second in the 1650 free (16:01.42).

Other highlights included Patrick Savidge winning the 400 IM (4:00.58), finishing second in the 200 IM (1:52.88) and finishing third in the 200 breaststroke (2:07.30). Freshman Bryce Ciecko swam solidly, finishing third in the 500 free (4:39.37) just behind Eric Grimes of William & Mary (5-1, 3-0 CAA).
