RICHMOND, Va. -- The University of Delaware placed five team members on the Colonial Athletic Association all-conference teams, the CAA announced Thursday.

Blue Hens junior captain John Schroeder was named to the All-CAA first Team while four other UD players earned third team recognition.

Schroeder (Houston, Texas/YSC Academy), a three-year starter for the Blue Hens, was named to the All-CAA second team and the CAA All-Tournament Team a season ago. The defender was also named to the All-CAA Rookie Team in 2015. This season, Schroeder scored a goal and tallied three assists for the Hens in 16 games.

In addition to Schroeder, four other Blue Hens were named to the CAA third team, including graduate student Asgeir Eyporsson (Reykjavik, Iceland/Verzlunarskōi Īslands), senior captain Thibault Philippe (Saint-Brieuc, France/Lycee Notre-dame Guingamp), junior Robert Gillin (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), and redshirt junior and goalkeeper Todd Morton (West Chester, Pa./Henderson).

Morton (.96 GAA, five shutouts), Philippe (three goals, two assists), and Gillan all received All-CAA honors in 2016 when they led the Hens to the CAA Tournament title and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Led by Gillin, Morton, and Eyporsson, the Blue Hens allowed just 17 goals in 16 games this season, the fourth fewest in the CAA. Delaware’s .990 team GAA is currently the 57th best nationally.

Head Coach Ian Hennessy
“I am very pleased for our players that received recognition this Fall. The honors are well deserved, not only for the quality of their play but for the leadership and example they have set for our younger players. Their daily habits and dedication to pursuing a higher level of play will resonate within the squad over an important spring period for the group.”
