MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Delaware softball team dropped a 10-1 decision to Arkansas before falling to McNeese, 9-1, on Saturday afternoon at the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational.

In the Blue Hens’ first game of the day, Arkansas (8-0) took control early by scoring nine runs in the bottom of the first inning. Hannah McEwen delivered an RBI triple and a two-run homer in the frame, while Kayla Green added a two-run shot of her own.

Delaware (0-8) quickly loaded the bases in the top of the second when Anna Steinmetz and Giovanna Kolofer each singled before Alyshia Dellatore reached on an error. Mattie Nuccio then recorded an RBI groundout to second, allowing Steinmetz to cross the plate.

Linnie Malkin answered with a solo homer in the bottom half to close the scoring for the Razorbacks, who are receiving votes in this week’s NFCA poll.

McNeese (12-3) then struck first on a Morgan Catron leadoff homer in the top of the second inning, before pushing across five runs in the top of the fourth. Erika Piancastelli led off the frame with a home run, while Justyce MClain added an RBI single during the rally.

The Blue Hens scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth when Kolofer reached on an error, allowing pinch runner Miranda O’Donald to cross the plate. However the Cowgirls answered with three runs in the top of the fifth to put the game away.

• Dellatore posted a single vs. Arkansas, while Leanna Gearhart and Sarah Coyne recorded singles vs. McNeese
• Delaware was facing both opponents for the first time in school history
