RICHMOND, Va. – The official pairings for the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Championship have been set and the University of Delaware earned the fifth seed under first-year head coach Natasha Adair.
The Blue Hens (18-10, 11-7 CAA) will square off against fourth-seeded Northeastern (16-13, 11-7) on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. as the second quarterfinals game of the day at Drexel University’s Daskalakis Athletic Center (DAC).
The winner between the Hens and Huskies will advance to Friday’s semifinals contest at 3 p.m. The two semifinal winners face off for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Northeastern received the fourth seed after sweeping the season series over Delaware.
UD holds the all-time series advantage of 37-15 over NU and has won 30 of the last 35 against the Huskies.
Drexel (14-6, 16-2 CAA) and James Madison (20-9, 16-2 CAA) share a portion of the CAA Regular Season title with the Dragons earning their first No. 1 seed since 2009 after having the advantage in the tiebreaker, which came down to RPI.
CAA.TV will be the online home for live coverage throughout the first three days of the championship. Logon using any internet connected device to access live video and stats or download the app on Roku.
The title contest will be streamed exclusively on Sports Live, as part of the league’s package with CBS Interactive, and will be televised regionally on NBC Sports Washington & Philadelphia and SNY.
