NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The University of Delaware men’s golf team sits in sixth place following Monday’s opening two rounds at the season-opening Bash at the Beach Tournament.

The Blue Hens carded team rounds of 297 and 295 during the day, ending play in sixth place out of nine squads with a two-round total of 592. Newberry College leads the field with a 567 score, followed by Charleston Southern at 571 and Longwood at 573.

Blaine Lafferty fired a one over par 69-74-143 during Monday’s action on the par 71, 6,741-yard course at The Surf Golf and Beach Club, finishing the day tied for 10th place.

Kieran Purcell and RJ Wren each shot a two over par 73-71-144 on the day and are tied for 12th place in the standings. Christian Chapman is tied for 38th place with an 11 over par 78-75-153, while Jack Gianniny is tied for 41st place with a 12 over par 77-77-154.

Carlos Leandro of Newberry holds a four-shot lead after carding a six under par 68-68-136 on Monday.

The final round of the tournament will take place on Tuesday at The Surf Golf and Beach Club.
