NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men’s basketball head coach Martin Ingelsby has announced that Matt Veretto has signed a National Letter of Intent with UD and will begin playing for the Blue Hens next fall.

Veretto, a 6-7 forward from Manchester, Conn., averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds during his senior season, earning first team All-Central Connecticut Conference and first team All-State honors. He was a member of East Catholic High School teams that went 77-6 during his final three years, leading the squad to three CCC titles and the 2017 state championship.

“Matt is a versatile, hard-nosed forward who adds length and shooting ability to our frontcourt,” Ingelsby said. “He has a high basketball IQ and plays with an energy and edge about him that will make an immediate impact on our basketball program. We are very excited to have Matt and the Verettos as part of the Blue Hen basketball family.”

Veretto is the second member of the Blue Hens’ 2018 recruiting class, along with 6-3 guard Ithiel Horton who signed in November.
