RICHMOND, Va. -- For the second consecutive week a University of Delaware baseball standout has earned a Colonial Athletic Association honor.

Blue Hen sophomore left-hander Brandon Walter (Hodgson Vo-Tech/New Castle, Del.) was named CAA Pitcher of the Week for his performance this past weekend against Penn State.

In addition to the conference award, the lefty was also named one of eight Collegiate Baseball National Players of the Week at the NCAA Division I level.

Walter took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and allowed just one hit and no runs in Delaware's 6-1 win over Penn State on Saturday afternoon. His 17 strikeouts are believed to be the second best total in program history behind Al Neiger, who struck out 21 batters against Swarthmore College in 1959.

The award is the first of Walter’s career, and he is the first UD pitcher to earn the CAA honor since Kevin Milley in May of 2016.

The pitcher shared the weekly CAA awards with Casey Golden of UNCW (Player of the Week) and Fox Semones of James Madison (Rookie of the Week).

The Blue Hens return to the diamond this weekend when they open up CAA play at James Madison on Friday, March 24, at 6 p.m.
